Community Eruv Volunteering
Community Eruv - Volunteering
The Metairie Community Eruv, established by Beth Israel in 2012, has enabled the observant community in the Metairie area to grow over the past decade. An eruv is a critical component of Jewish communal infrastructure, allowing for the carrying of items beyond a person's private domain on Shabbat.
Over the past six months, we have conducted a significant amount of work rerouting the eruv and physically rebuilding its infrastructure. The new design of the eruv is more resilient to hurricanes, settling of utility poles, and other challenges that face our region. These changes, however, require us to inspect more components of the eruv each week prior to each Shabbat. Since this is more labor intensive, we need your help to share inspection responsibilities!
Find out how a few minutes or your time each week can significantly help! No prior knowledge or experien e required. The eruv serves as a reminder that we are all one community; the walls of the eruv serving to bring us together, rather than separating us from one another. Please consider volunteering!
Also able to provide critical financial support to this eruv? Please visit our Communty Eruv Fund page to find our more about donating.
