Our Rabbi

Rabbi Shlomo Stauber

We are thrilled to introduce Rabbi Shlomo Stauber, who officially joined Congregation Beth Israel as our Rabbi, Spiritual Leader, and Oscar J. Tolmas Rabbinic Chair in September 2025.

Before relocating to join the Beth Israel family, Rabbi Stauber and his wife, Joanna, resided in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For twelve years, he served as the Rabbi and Chazzan of one of the city's most respected synagogues. He comes from a distinguished rabbinic lineage, as his father served as the Chief Rabbi of Rio de Janeiro for over forty years. In his previous role, Rabbi Stauber oversaw the kashrut of several local establishments and was frequently consulted on halachic issues, including by the local Chevra Kadisha. He also directed a Kiruv program for young adults and was instrumental in running many Torah class initiatives.

Rabbi Stauber received his extensive education at several esteemed Yeshivot, including Yeshiva Or Yosef in São Paulo, Brazil; Yeshiva Ohr Elchanan in Jerusalem; and Yeshiva Beis Moshe Chaim (Talmudic University) in Miami, Florida, where he studied under the tutelage of Harav Yochanan Zweig. He also studied at the Miami Beach Lakewood Kollel, where he prepared for his smicha, which he received in Israel. Additionally, Rabbi Stauber holds a Bachelor's degree in Talmudic Law and Jewish Philosophy, and a Master's degree in International Business Administration. He is a talented vocalist and Chazzan who has released songs that have received international recognition.

Rabbi Stauber and his wife, Joanna, who holds a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Stern College for Women, are blessed with four children: Orly, Aryeh, Reevy, and Micky.
